Auditions: “RABBIT HOLE”

The Bay Players of Duxbury are pleased to announce auditions for RABBIT HOLE, the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by David Lindsay-Abaire.

Becca and Howie Corbett have everything a family could want, until a life-shattering accident turns their world upside down and leaves the couple drifting perilously apart. RABBIT HOLE charts their bittersweet search for comfort in the darkest of places and for a path that will lead them back into the light of day.

Auditions will be held at the First Parish Church, 842 Tremont Street, Duxbury, MA, on Tuesday, August 23rd, at 7PM, and Thursday, August 25th, at 7PM. If necessary, callbacks or additional audition times will be Sunday, August 28th, at 7PM.

Entrance to performance hall/audition room is found at the back of the building.

If you are unable to make these auditions dates in person, please contact us at rabbithole.bayplayers@gmail.com and we can arrange for a video audition.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:

BECCA (female-identifying; late 30s/early 40s) – Usually a very responsible, practical, and sensible person but her grief causes her to make some rash decisions throughout the play. Tough and uncompromising, she cannot tolerate insincerity or impracticality. Married to Howie.

HOWIE (male-identifying; late 30s/early 40s) – Married to Becca. A patient man who specializes in pretending everything is fine. He is very caring and attentive to his family, but finds it challenging to reconcile how Becca deals with their shared grief.

IZZY (female-identifying; early 30s) – Irresponsible and impulsive, but well-intentioned. Caught in a state of arrested development but suddenly finds herself thrust into responsibility she has never known. Becca’s younger sister.

NAT (female-identifying; mid 60s) – Outspoken and opinionated, with a tendency to say the wrong thing. Becca’s and Izzy’s mother. She is extremely supportive of her daughters, and frequently acts as their voice of reason.

JASON (male-identifying; 17 years old) – A high school senior, awkward and shy, but sensitive and caring, who is at the center of a family tragedy. Although he has been told he bears no blame for what has happened, he places the burden of responsibility squarely on himself.
